THE BOX RIVER BENEFICE INCLUDES FIVE CHURCHES IN THE VILLAGES OF BOXFORD, EDWARDSTONE, GROTON, LITTLE WALDINGFIELD AND NEWTON, THE LARGEST OF WHICH IS BOXFORD, WHICH HAS A CHURCH SCHOOL, VILLAGE SHOPS, PUBS AND MANY LOCAL AMEATIES.
We have the wonderful privilege of being able to worship and care for our villages from five beautiful ancient buildings that have sat at the centre of their villages for centuries.
For St Mary the Virgin Edwardstone, St Bartholomew’s Groton, St Lawrence’s Little Waldingfield and All Saints’ Newton it costs £18,000 per year to keep each church open and operational (excluding repairs). This equates to £1,500 per month or £350 per week.
For St Mary’s Boxford it costs in the region of £38,000 per year to keep the church open and operational (owing to its larger size). This equates to £3,170 per month or £750 per week.
There is no central funding available for the running of churches and we are completely reliant upon good Christian generosity to help keep us open and operational locally.
Would you consider supporting us with a regular or one-off donation? With your support we can continue to keep this Christian presence at the centre of our villages and provide spiritual care for many years to come.
